Scope and Contents

The records consist of meeting minutes, attendance records, financial records, correspondence, clippings, pamphlets, photographs and yearbooks, all related to the activities of the Abracadabra Club and its members. The collection also contains two gavels and a block used to call meetings to order. The records reflect the intellectual interests of the members of the Club and cover a wide variety of topics spanning over a century of time.

Scope and Contents The collection contains items of the Capital Bicycle Club dating from 1880 to 1929, and includes 126 photographs, two scrapbooks, and five record books. The photographs are of the Club’s events including the 5th Annual League of American Wheelman Races on May 20, 1884 and Herbert S. “Bert” Owen’s Birthday Run on May 7, 1888. This collection consists of correspondence, memos, by-laws, photographs, programs, meeting minutes, and press releases related to the Capitol Hill Symphony Society. The majority of the materials were created in 1964, although the dates range from 1962 to 1965.

Scope and Contents The collection consists of board meeting minutes, annual reports, treasurer reports, financial records, clippings, and photographs from the Club’s records. It also contains editions of the “Ad Woman of Washington” and “Washington Ad Woman”, newsletters of the Club.
